Dear Fellow Pilot:
Thank you for your interest in forming an AOPA in your country (where there is currently not one in existence) and becoming affiliated with the International Council of Aircraft Owner and Pilot Associations (IAOPA).
The process of establishing and applying for membership in IAOPA is simple but requires that the national organization applying must submit a copy of its Constitution and Bylaws as well as a list of its officers to ensure that it is an independent organization free of any conflict of interest that would damage its credibility or capacity to freely represent general aviation pilots.
A national AOPA will be granted provisional membership in IAOPA after review of its Constitution and Bylaws. During the brief period of provisional membership, the national AOPA has the right to fully participate in all IAOPA matters. Once the Board of IAOPA has voted to accept your membership, you will be notified of formal acceptance and full membership.
On this site, you will find information which describes IAOPA, an affiliate and vice president address list and a copy of the IAOPA Constitution and Bylaws. Also enclosed is a sample constitution and bylaws that can be used as a guideline for forming a national AOPA.
If I can provide you with further information, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to welcoming your organization to the international family of national aviation associations dedicated to improving all aspects of general aviation.
